CLANWILLIAM DAMS

BULSHOEK DAM is ± 24 km North of Clanwilliam along the N7, is an important resource of water for farmers alongside the Olifants River as well as those from Citrusdal to Lutzville. The water of the Bulshoek Dam is released into a canal system over 83km serving 9 330 ha of listed land. The Dam is a popular holiday resort for visitors from all over.

CLANWILLIAM DAM is a spectacular body of water, popular for recreational purposes of all kinds. The resort is situated along the banks of the dam and is a popular weekend and holiday destination and caters for all tastes with chalets, as well a camping area, with or without electricity, with an excellent view of the dam. Watersports enthusiasts enjoy weekends at the dam, while the local Angling Club arranges regular competitions, of which the Bass Classic in October is probably the most significant. The Clanwilliam Dam is known as the most popular dam in the Western Cape for water-skiing. The Ramskop Nature Garden and a short walking trail is easily reached from the chalets. The Nature garden is host to a vast number of indigenous species of flowers and is a real sight, particularly in August and September. For information contact the resort on 027 - 482 2133
